All The President's Men

The entire Watergate Scandal always left me intrigued. And for reasons unknown I never really dived deep into available knowledge to understand more of this issue that was much before my team. Moreover, many western issues of this political nature are quite underhyped in a typical Indian upbringing. So i succumbed to ignorance everytime the topic came up.

However, i finally watched the brilliant movie - All the President's Men... one of those true story movies that throws you into cyberspace, thirsty for more info on the subject. This time, it was Watergate. (Last time it was Howard Hughes) So after a few hours of numerous google searches, videos, interviews, archived articles, I finally have a modest overview on the issue, and boy does it feel refreshing.. this was definately long overdue. Final word on the issue : Mark Felt a.k.a Deep Throat seems to have come out in the open at the right time. Probably in his twilight years, it astonishes me how long he kept this secret, but im glad he's getting the due credit he so rightly deserves. Through the last 30 years, he has directly or indirectly, changed the face of everything from journalism to political functioning. Some people argue his integrity to his work place, but lose sight of his integrity to society on the whole.

Bob Woodward, the Washington Post journalist who was the key link to Deep Throat, has also written a book last year called "Plan of Attack", which seems to provide some rather interesting insights into The Bush Administration's plan to wage war on Iraq. This promises an intersting read, especially after Farenheit 9/11.

On a final note, this spurge of reading up on things (also spent some 1 hour on HowStuffWorks understanding everything from anterogade and retrogade Amnesia to Lock Picking) marks quite an intersting and more aggressive knowledge phase I shall soon enter... kicking it all off with an aggressive period of transition to MC 05-06.
